About Us

Jim Surgent humbly started the business in a Montana storefront in1972, & since bringing it to the Seattle area thirteen years later the name had become synonymous with quality.

When Jim & Devon Surgent retired & the Campbell’s purchased the endeavor in January 2010 all of the team stayed intact, further building on the theme of relationship.

Today we are a fine machine driving on all cylinders, ready and willing to take care of your needs to the highest of standards.

I grew up in Western Washington,( Vashon Isl.), since 1967, started skiing at Stevens pass in 1972 and every subsequent year since. Joined the US Army in November 1977 and became a Chinook helicopter repairman. While Stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in my off time, trained on the 26 mile mountaineering course which leads up to Pikes Peak, and skied all the resorts in Colorado. Once out of the service, in 1981, I worked as bookkeeper doing accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivables at our family’s nursing homes, but did not like being trapped behind a desk. I then started in the Carpenters Union 131 and progressed through all levels of construction in the Seattle area, culminating as a Superintendent. January 2010 brought about the purchase of Surgent Inc. Thanks to all our capable staff, & some employees stepping up in management capacities, a new chapter for Christy and I is evolving into volunteering, grandkids, travel and leisure time pursuits. With Christ as our guiding light the future is looking brighter than ever.

I was raised in Western Washington since the age of 11 and graduated from Washington State University with a music performance degree.  My career path lead elsewhere after graduation as I immediately went into the corporate world several years ending with a decade at Microsoft.  I took time off for 15 years raising our 2 daughters and enjoyed a lot of gardening and travel in that time period. With the opportunity to acquire Surgent, it was a good fit for me to take on the administrative management of the company.  It has been a tremendous opportunity, with many risks and rewards and never a dull moment. We have been very blessed in this pursuit, with such great employees, and iconic projects to perform on with many local partners.
